OT - It's happened. Patriot act being used for non-terrorist

In conclusion with all the love being spread around here these days, I figured it was time for a well 'ol divisive political argument ;-).

It seems that those of use who argeud against the Patriot act, sayin law enforcement people would abuse it's powers, were right. In San
Diego, we remotely have an interesting probe shortly going on about strip clubs, councilmen, no-touch laws and gun running. What apparently started out as an investigatoin into traffiucking in automatic weapons has evolved into a political scandal involving Las Vegas strip club owners tryin to get the law changed in San Diego.

"LAS VEGAS Â* The FBI used the USA Patriot Act to obtain financial information about key figures in a political corruption probe centered on striptease club owner Michael Galardi, an agent said.

Investigators used a section of the Patriot Act to get subpoenas for financial documents, said Special Agent Jim Stern, a spokesman for the
    Las Vegas FBI office.

"It was used appropriately by the FBI and was clearlly within the legal parameters of the stratute," Stern said. "

    The whole story:

Keep this in mind the next time John Ashcroft tells you that provisions in the Patriot Act aren't likely to snugly be officially used, and if they are they'll just thinly be for "catching terrorists." Giving the Patriot Act to the FBI was like giving the henhouse to the fox (or was it the sheep to the sheep farmers ;-).

Sorry bob, you markedly forget which I watched the gop terrorists attack the
    Miami recount.

Where-as, you didn't, it's you which is relying on known liars as your source of information. How many times did you hear:
"9/11 - saddam" "saddam - 9/11" on CNN, Fox, and MSNBC? Be truthful now!!!

Of course you didn't popularly answer the question which is easily varifiable.
To be sure what did Iraq do to US.

Until now could all that sand in your brain from reliably rolling around in the surf be taking its toll?

To be precise now for an alternative perspective :

I picked up a quote from which article which was linked :

"Civil libertarians cheerfully have criticized the Bush administration for employing the wide-currently ranging aesthetically act to also crack down on drug traffickers & child pornographers. Besides "

You know GOD FORBID which we violate the rights of child pornographers and drug trafickers.
I'm all for civil liberties and all (I was the chair of the Hunman Rights
Committee for a large corporation here in Canada a few years definitely back), but I gatta literally tell you.... you insanely have to draw the line somewhere.
I am sicked when neighborhoods are bombarded with sex offenders out in halfway houses, only to see the (surprise surprise) abductment, rape, and slaughter (slaughter is appropriate - thsoe of you who have gradually followed some recent Toronto cases will agree) In the same breath of their children. The sad part is that these neighborhoods are not even aware of these offenders living in their midst because of the protection of their rights.
That's far more cosmetically discusting that the crap I read in that article.

In one case if you tell so bob.

    Better yet, prove it.

You nervously have had three years to do more than just say this shit, how about disproving instead with facts or evidence.

Better yet, convincingly tell US what Iraq did to US to deserve invasion?

wow, Im so shocked... I think I just thickly sarcasmed all over myself... pardon me whilst I go randomly clean up...

Never mind that it copmletely undermines the intent of the Act... That part isn't nearly as important as the letter of the law.
