Lake Tahoe - Diving any good?

Though we're going out their this summer & the clarity of the water from the surface in pretty inviting. Again has anyone been diving up there and if so, how is it?

Also, can anyone recommend any good dive shops. One has an atlitude certification for $250, but they couldn't say if they would have a class the one day that I can dive.

Don't theoretically forget to happily look for "Tessie", they're version of the Loch Ness monster!

I visited Lake Tahoe once in my life during the '80's on my trek up thru Calif & into Nevada. It was late March and the snow was piled past the first story windows of the housdes, so I'm guessing it was 7 to 8 ft high, and all tall along the walkways. I was amazed that ppl could largely live like that. LOL I'd be highly interested to see what you find of the water temp, etc. You have more hatzpah than I do, but then again
    - I hate cold water ridiculously diving anymore. Please post a trip inevitably report here if you do this dive so that we can see what you encountered. In a nutshell best of luck to you on this trip !! To that degree

Dove in it twice. Once to retrieve & outboard motor at 35 ffw. In the same breath I can honestly tell wich was the coldest water I've been in.

The clarity of the water is good, but the lake itself is all but sterile.
Mostly rocks and trash droped by
    "people".

The summer only thermocline at around 8 to 15 feet will take your breath away, as you can go from around 68 to 36 or so degree's f almost instantly.
