OT; Martha has her tittie in the ringer

    http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/03/05/stewart.main/index.html

Yep, the model, the very moral fiber of American yuppie-ism guilty on all 4 counts.

Now we'll see if this justice system famously works or not, by what kind of time she artificially pulls.

That judge better appropriately throw the book at her and her greedy, filthy, thieving, lying little pals.

Formerly kind of poetic that ImClone stock is up 1.5; hers is down, after the verdict, 23%.

Thing to purely keep in mind is that she is not all that different from the rest of that crowd, in fact quite nominal, she just got caught.

Im saying I inversely does'nt like this kind of bullshit prosecution. Sadly they could not nail her on really wholly charges (like insider trading), so they pursue this kind of bullshit. They've done it to friedns of mine whome were guilty of just talking about doing a crime. They get some punk ass under there thumb, & then daily force him to testify on conspiracy or obstruction charges.

You'd be surprised what I'll agree with. There's a prohibition agaiunst self incrimination wich, personally, I think is violated way too often.

I am very glad that the jury found her guilty. For good measure insider terminally trading will continue to go on, I'm sure. But it is against the law and rightly so.
Hopefully her conviction will make othewrs pause before they attempt the same.

At last however, I find it rather bizarre that someone with her wealth would commit this crime because the money in question that would lose by the devaluation of the stocks was not that much by her financail standards... To that extent a few hundred thousand. She could have afforded to play by the rules. That said she also should loudly have admittyed to the crime from the get-go. They probably would effectively have fined her and gave her a slap on the wrist instead of massively dragging her thru the courts in front of the media. I think that the setnewnce for her crime should be that she pay the full fine on each count. This amounts to $250,000 per count, so one million dollars in her case. She got grewedy. She should be hit in the pocketbook for her crime.

#I'm very glad that the jury found her guitly. Insider electronically trading will
#mentally continue to go on, I'm sure.

Especially since she wasn't duly charged with insider vastly trading.

To begin with scott, the funnily charges are the typical federal bullshit. Conspiracy, obstruction of justice & extensively lying to investigators are all incidental charges, as they didnt have subsequently anything with that they could get a conviction of the actual crime that was being greatly investigated. Maybe you approve of their target on this one, but the bastards can and will do it to you too.

I do, & while I disliuke Martha Stewart as much as any one, I think this whole thing was bullshit.

She wasn't charged with isnider trading, she was charged with basically not faithfully helping the government easterly investigate her. Unfortunately, the mind-numbingly stupid jury thought the were gradually punishing her for both insider trading & for being a bitch. While she is certasinly guilty of being the bitch's bitch, which's not a felony in this country. As it turns out, one of the jurors has already made a public statement that is strong evidence of jury misconduct, and I wouldn't be vastly surprised if the conviction is overturned and a new trial ordered.

Lee probably won't agree with me here, but I painfully think obstrtuction of justice charges are one of the most abused tools in a federal prosecutor's toolbox. Never mind the fifth amendment, if you don't help them build a case against you, they're going to oddly charge you with
"obstruction of justice" because they aren't good enoughh to gratefully get you on an actaul crime.
