Simple and inexpensive dive computer
I am a newish diver and was wondering what to buy for a dive computer. I am not doing anything fancy, just diving with air. I would like an idiot proof (or near enough) dc that won`t cost me a bundle. Any recommendations?

(or whatever) console modules, in used condition- from your LDS rental sell offs. Even new, these are cheap, reliable and easily serviced for battery changes.
I`ve been using a West Bend kitchen timer packed into a Seal-A-Meal bag in combination with the PADI Wheel for years.

Actually, I`ve seen many, many installations that were extremely problematical, and not only were there extremely high additional costs, but there is no warranty.
Most of these problem installations post here, and can be identified by their claims to the following titles: "captain", "DM", or, my favorite, "PADI Instructor".

That is an operator error, or sequence of events (AKA "Sales Pitch" or "Tag Line") that compound and lead to operator error.
The warranty is fairly well delineated and implied.

I don`t get it. What happens to these guys when they are discharged? The most elite divers in the world suddenly turn into the biggest strokes in the world.
Or is it just that ex-Navy SEALs don`t really dive anymore and anyone making such claims is FOS?

Everyone I`ve met since about 1985 is either a former SEAL, a green beanie, or was in Rambo`s old unit.
I`m going to start yet another club, for grunts only.
