I`m looking for a recommendation in a dive operator for cenote diving. We will be staying in Akumal for a couple days.

cave divers. Contact me if you want the name of one, or just go through any of the shops and they`ll put you in touch with them. I take it you aren`t full cave and are looking for a cavern dive, right? If you were full cave, I`d say skip the shops, but if you were full cave you`d probably know some locals already...

on Yucatan caving locations, as well as historical data for the region. There are other websites devoted to cenote diving activities available from a google search.

Shop http://www.akumal.com/
They have package deals with Las Casitas Akumal and are located on the grounds. http://www.lascasitasakumal.com/
The twin tank, long-hose equipped DM took me (OW cert only) and a couple that had done cavern cert on a couple of loops around the Dos Ojos cavern. Both dives were about 40 minutes at 15` average, using a single AL80. We were the first at the cavern and were finishing our 2nd dive about the time other groups started showing up.
I met others that dove with the nearby Akumal Dive Center that also had a good time.

Good guy and a very competent diver. He`s from my home town and has taken me into several caverns now, and I`m still alive to tell the tale. 8) Seriously. If you want a very good, very concerned guide, check him out.
