Diving Phuket Thailand - low season!

    Hi
This is my 5th low season in Phuket. By low season (you may hear it called monsoon season), i mean less people. Sure, May & September can be pretty rough and it does tend to rain fairly heavily during this time. But, what's wrong with June? July? August?
Believe me, absolutely nothing. In fact, particularly in July and August, we get long periods of flat sea and sunshine. You cannot reach the infamous Similan Islands during this time because the National Park is closed. However, Phuket's local diving has a lot to offer.
I am not kidding - yesterday i was snorkelling with at least 4 feeding whale sharks. I can confirm 4 because we saw them at the same time but they seemed to be everywhere! Then upon diving Shark Point, there was a leopard shark free-swimming around my group for about twenty minutes of the dive; really close-in without a care in the world. I had a superb day!!!
My advice... Don't be put off by the term 'low season' - there are less people which adds up to more fish!
I will upload pictures any day soon - i didn't have my camera so i have to get them from someone else. I have proof though, i swear!

tell me: why did you have to forget your camera?

and, something else: what is this "infamous Similan Islands" thing?

I was guiding 4 relatively inexperienced divers so didn't like to carry my camera. Too many diving professionals carry cameras to make extra cash out of their customers and i don't agree with it. My focus is keeping my customers safe!

And are you telling me you've not heard of the Similan Islands?

Check out the following link: http://http://www.philkade.com/conte...ailand_similan

From October to May i live there on MV Philkade. It's terrific. A great way to live!

You are completely right and I think have a true ethical approach to this subject, Aquamarine (re. not wanting to make money out of your customers) - Though pity on the other hand to miss it :P

Photos can be placed up to 500 pixels - I think that's where lies the crux when failing to upload before. I am very curious
