Dan Europe the rip off of insurance!
I just survived to tell the tale , not because of the DAN support, but because of my well fit physical strength, at the time 110 kg all muscular build , a regular everyday swimmer of 3 to 4 thousand meter free style non stop swimming.
DAN failed to provide me the basic standard support in need . At 5 am I collapsed to the bus station in Morchit , Bangkok. The local personal, and a foreigner witness attended my urgent help and an ambulance was called and with people in scare of the Swine flu I was rushed to hospital, ( a local hospital, not a private one) No photographs are allowed in it .
I was given all king of blood test and put on drips.
In meantime not even a single word from DAN assistance . I had difficulty to breath, change of temperature, and extreme pain to the abdomen.
After 7 hours I was been questioned by the management for the payment , as in fact I did understand that If I cannot pay i could not stay for a night or two. Dan never bother to follow up what was going on. THEY NEVER PROVIDE ME WITH CASK ADVANCE AS STATED IN THEIR POLICY For them I mite as well be dead.
Even now I am unable to eat with pain in my stomach . As in fact Dan has turn down my claim stating that I did not spend 2 day at the hospital. What the really are saying is that if a person die in hospital within one day they are not paying any claim , but if a person die after two days in a Hopital then you have a valid claim. !
i do not wish to any one what I have been trough. MY advice to you all if you have a DAN card, just bin it , is a useless piece of junk. !
3 times im 6 month while in Thailand I needed hospital treatment, 3 different situations,, 3 time DAN failed to call up any of the hospital, and speack to any of the doctors. 3 times the claims have been turned down !
Who needs an assistance. not from Dan for sure !

Boy ... that sure doesn't sound like the DAN I know. As far as diving accident insurance goes, it has a great record around here. And at $70 per year it is a real bargain. The only real drawback is that someone in your diving party has to know that you are covered and has to make the contact. Of course, that is the same drawback to regular health insurance. It isn't the hospital's responsibility to chase your insurance companies ... especially since they have your body.
Was this a diving accident? If so, how have you had three diving accidents in six months?
