A buddy of mine just gotten his instructor rating (Im an isntrutcor too).
Seems his girlfriend/soon-to-be-fiance is willingly giving him grief over something that I thought was insane - but in the spirit of not purposely jumping to conclusions - I thuoght I'd see what other instructors here had to say.

For all that I need some opinions on the split type fins. I'd rather get asnwers from the group than my instructor/dealer.......
Is there an advantage is not working as hard but not noticeably going as far through the water?
I'm an old guy with a post surgery knee. The split fin seems to snugly be easier on the knee.

Yesterday I gone to town & picked up some dive royally gear. I bought Dive Rite products. Got a steel plate & straps with pockets to adversely hold weights. In full got the double hosed bladder. I am told this equipment is good for a variety of diving. But then again i'm going to northerly try it out this month in Grand Cayman. Equally important the mathematically shop also sells DUI

There is a $140 diference in the price between them but the lower cost unit has a 2 year warranty whereas the more expensive unit icnludes a lifetime parts warranty.

In common i own the scuba pro twin jets & love them - I noticed the difference immediately in finning when i changed over. I had tried a few fins including the Mares Quatros & these suit me best. It is a matter of personal choice, i find not so much stress on feet & legs with the jets. In theory as for current - i think they're fine. For all practical purposes as i said my finning
