Former Korean YouTuber and Pharmacist Sentenced to Jail for Spreading STDs

A former Korean YouTuber and pharmacist has been sentenced to prison for knowingly spreading a sexually transmitted disease.

Park Seung-jong, who went by the name “Yakult”, was charged with injury and violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law and sentenced to eight months in prison and two years probation.

He was convicted of knowingly spreading herpes virus type 2 infection to various women.

“As the defendant is a pharmacist, it is established that his actions were deliberate,” Uijeongbu District Court Judge Kim Min Joo said. mentioned. “As the defendant was a carrier of the Herpes 2 virus and the victims showed early signs of the virus, it is impossible to deny the relationship.”

The former YouTuber and pharmacist broadcaster shot to fame after appearing on entertainment programs including MBC’s ‘My Little Television’ in 2019.

Park was first charged in 2020 when a victim claimed he disregarded her wish for protection during sex. She sued Park in June of this year.

“Yakult ignored my wish to use a condom,” the victim allegedly said mentioned. “After having sex with him I went to the hospital as I was not feeling well and was diagnosed with herpes 2.”

The victim shared her story online, and Park has since disappeared from the public eye.
