Job- Warehouse Pharmacist Workplace – Maiduguri (with regular field visits)

Report to – Pharmacy manager Oversight of – Assistant Pharmacists and Drug Distributors

General objective of the position

Under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, the role is responsible for the storage management of the pharmacy / medical warehouse, including the receipt, storage and distribution of medical supplies and equipment in accordance with pharmaceutical standards universal and INTERSOS SOPs to projects or other departments to ensure the overall functioning of INTERSOS activities.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Facilitates receipt of orders and deliveries, identifies potential discrepancies with freight manifest and reports
  • Ensures good storage conditions of all medical items in the pharmacy in accordance with pharmaceutical standards and INTERSOS SOPs.
  • Participates in regular inventories (including EPREP stock), completes entries on stock cards and software. Ensures the inventory register is up to date and compiles reports.
  • Timely preparation of orders for the various consumer units (departments, services, others), ensuring proper packaging and shipping and reporting any anomalies or changes in consumption habits to the pharmacy manager. Inform the pharmacy manager as soon as the stock reaches an alert limit.
  • Controls warehouse facilities to ensure that materials are kept in good storage conditions, this includes: for example, monitoring the temperature in the warehouse and ensuring that products requiring a cold chain are properly stored and that shipments received, stored, prepared and transported appropriately in accordance with INTERSOS. Cold chain protocols.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the premises (pharmacy stock) and in close collaboration with the logistics department, maintains the refrigeration equipment.
  • Provides effective control of warehouse access to authorized personnel and ensures doors and other exits are secure. Immediately inform the supervisor of any problem arising during the work, in particular in the event of deterioration, loss, attempted break-in or theft in the warehouse.
  • Ensures that items to be quarantined (ongoing quality alerts) or quarantined (batch recalls, expired or damaged items) are removed from stock and securely locked.
  • Tracks stock levels for alarm thresholds, stock-outs, expiration dates, and drugs due to expire within the next 6 months. Prepare reports and send them to the pharmacy manager.
  • Support the supervision of Pharmacy Assistants and ensure they carry out their responsibilities efficiently and on time.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job requirements

Professional requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Essential, Diploma in Pharmacy Management (BPharm.)
  • Two years of demonstrated experience as a pharmacist is required.
  • Experience with NGOs in the same position is required.

Personal requirements

  • Good communication skills and ability to conduct trainings and sensitizations.
  • Understanding of gender, protection and human rights.
  • Knowledge of local languages ​​spoken in the area of ​​operation is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with national staff members and other stakeholders.
  • Experience of living and working in cross-cultural, multi-sector, precarious and/or remote environments.
